Marcia’s Story: Making the Move to Assisted Living
Marcia was recently diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis (MG) and congestive heart failure, both of which landed her in the hospital several times this summer. After these diagnoses and hospital visits, Marcia and her family knew that it was time to start looking into different living options.
At the time, Marcia was living at home with her daughter and son-in-law, who were both working full-time. She just didn’t feel comfortable being home alone anymore. She was having trouble taking her medications properly, began having some balance issues that required her to use a walker to remain stable while walking and just wasn’t feeling safe. That’s when the discussion of Assisted Living came up, and Marcia was all for it.
“My daughter stumbled across Hellenic, brought me in, and I absolutely loved it.”
Marcia then made the move to Hellenic Senior Living of Mishawaka, a new affordable assisted lifestyle community serving seniors in the Mishawaka, IN area. She became Hellenic’s second resident in late August.
“I really like it here so far; everyone’s so friendly, and the fried chicken is excellent.”
She cannot wait to make new friends, get involved in activities and continue to enjoy life. “I know I’m in good hands, and I’m very excited.”
